Paddle Time Kayaks, LLC is a part-time (mostly weekends) mobile kayak company headquartered in Shark River Hills, New Jersey. Our services are reservation based and always dependent on good weather and and high tide - see more about our hours here.

We may be able to accommodate weekday requests. Please contact us at least three weeks in advance to allow us enough time to review and (possibly) accommodate your request.

*In-person cash price includes NJ sales tax. In-person digital payments or credit card payments (we use Square card processing and PayPal) will incur NJ sales tax added to the total sale.
- Kids age 6 and up are welcome in our tandem (two person) kayak with an adult. Winds can make steering challenging if your kid-copilot isn’t able to provide effective paddle support.
- Please review our participant criteria.
- We require kids under 10 to team up with an adult in our tandem kayak.
- Under 18 must be with a legal guardian.
Kayaking is risk-based activity. Shark River has currents, winds, boat wakes, and we will never tell anyone that they won’t fall out of a kayak and into the open water.
Getting back into a kayak can be challenging, especially if you’ve never done it before. It’s much easier with help, which is why we do not recommend going by yourself. REMEMBER…we are not lifeguards!
All participants should know how to swim, or at the very least must be comfortable floating in the water.
If one is not comfortable floating in the water, kayaking is not advisable.
All equipment is visually inspected and cleaned prior to next use.
Our Perception Tribe sit-on-top (self bailing) kayaks are premium recreation kayaks. They are stable, buoyant & comfortable! We also provide a premium Harmony brand kayak paddle and paddle leash. Life jackets must be worn the entire time.
As required by the U.S. Coast Guard for all paddlers, we provide a U.S.C.G. approved personal flotation device (PFD) and safety whistle in case of emergency.
All kayaks have a weight limit that is rated for the total load in the kayak, including all gear and accessories.
- up to 300lb - 9.5’ solo kayak (yellow), one person maximum. This kayak is ideal for kids 10+ and people that are under 6’ tall.
- up to 350lb - 11.5’ solo kayak (green), one person maximum, these kayaks are designed for taller people.
- up to 500lb - 13.5’ tandem kayak (red), two people maximum, most participants will fit on this kayak as long as the weight limit is observed.
